On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, APMMI again held a discussion related to Permendikbud 53/2023 at Building D of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Present at the discussion were the Director General of Higher Education, Prof. Khairul Munadi, and the Acting Director of Student Learning, Dr. Berry Juliandi. Meanwhile, APMMI was represented by Prof. Amin Wibowo (Chairman of APMMI – MM UGM), Prof. Rofikoh Rhokim (Chairman of the APMMI Supervisory Board – MM UI), Prof. M. Adam (MM Univ. Syiah Kuala), Dr. Mirwan SP (MM Univ. Diponegoro) and Dr. Werner R. Murhadi (MM Univ. Surabaya). The discussion was warm and open regarding the management of higher education, especially at the postgraduate level. Both Dikti and APMMI understand the importance of expanded higher education autonomy that does not only focus on funding issues. Policies that are too over-regulated will limit innovation in order to respond to today’s rapidly changing world. Some of the topics discussed include the flexibility for universities to determine the amount of credits, the use of internationally recognized degrees to quality assurance and accreditation. It is hoped that the meeting of Dikti and APMMI can further improve the quality of education, especially at the postgraduate level.
