International Seminar of Contemporary Research on Business and Management (ISCRBM) in MM FEB UI, collaboration with APMMI
Master of Management Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia (MM FEB UI) proudly presents an International Seminar of Contemporary Research on Business and Management (ISCRBM) in collaboration with APMMI. This event was held on Wednesday – Friday (27-29 November 2019) with the theme “Building Indonesian Talent Management”. The event is co-hosted by the University of Sriwijaya, Telkom University, University of Airlangga, and the University of Trunojoyo Madura, and we are also very honored to be sponsored by Telkom Indonesia and Triputra Group.
The opening ceremony of the ISCRBM was held in MM FEB UI Auditorium with opening remarks from Mrs. Rofikoh Rokhim, S.E., S.I.P., D.E.A., Ph.D. as a Director of APMMI. Furthermore, there was also welcoming speech delivered by (Acting) Head of Management Department of FEB UI, Mr. Arief Wibisono Lubis, Ph.D., and he was addressing about the relevance of talent management in today’s dynamic competitive world, and specifically the importance of empowering people at work using the practice of talent management.
The keynote speech of the opening ceremony was delivered by Prof. Fumio Itoh, President of ABEST21, which discussed about the latest issues related to talent management in Indonesia. There are several key takeaways from Prof. Fumio Itoh, including; (1) prospective workers cannot meet company expectations of professional management requirements, thus we should improve the quality of education and research activities through business schools that aim to develop “management professionals”, (2) It is also possible if we develop a system of professional graduates with the aim of developing professional management. It is mainly because of every corporate need MBA graduates, especially for manager functions, that have professional management requirements in order to close the gap between company expectations and the company’s current conditions.
After the keynote speech, we have a panel discussion with a moderator, Mr. Ir. Aryana Satrya, M.M., Ph.D. as an assistant professor in the Department of Management FEB UI, and two guest speakers, namely Mr. Irvandi Ferizal (Human Capital Director of PT. Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk) and Mr. Nizar Hamid (VP Human Capital Development of PT. Telkom Indonesia). Mr. Irvandi discussed the implementation of talent management in practice by using Omni channels to ensure consistent execution & fit for the talent. It is also important to prepare young talents in the future by managing supply and demand of workforce, labor flexibility, and talent management. He also mentioned about the impact based (more than event-based) within talent management to ensure consistent execution.
Furthermore, Mr. Nizar Hamid discussed career and people management within talent management according to specific industry needs (in this case, digital and telecommunications industry), as implemented by Telkom Indonesia. He explained about digital and telecommunication business industry within which Telkom Indonesia compete, and how talent management in that industry highly depends on business needs, career management related to people management, and also remuneration. At the end of the session, FEB UI and APMMI gave a special token of appreciation for the speakers and moderators as they are willing to share their knowledge with ISCRBM participants.
The panel discussion marks the opening ceremony of ISCRBM. After the opening ceremony, the members of APMMI were gathered to have an internal meeting, while the rest of the participants (the presenters and track chairs) went straight to their respective rooms to begin the parallel session of the conference.
